Overview
REX works with clients from a variety of industries. Rather than focusing on a specific industry sector, the focus is on identifying the challenges whereby design can deliver the desired result. This approach has seen REX engage with a variety of clients ranging from small boutique, owner managed companies to global giants such as the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta.
Background
REX was founded in July 2004 with the partnering of Olivier Schildt and Rudo Botha – both graduates of the University of Pretoria, where they achieved honours degrees in Information Design.
At the beginning the partnership focussed on developing ‘the kind of product they could believe in’ before engaging the world around them or simply growing the company in numbers. With the critical ‘formative’ years behind them, and with clear intent the company started assembling a team of people who could expand on this vision. Collaborative practices have seen the company establish valuable relationships with a network of creative visionaries, industrial psychologists and courageous spirits in Southa Africa, the US, Europe and the Middle East.
In 2007 REX formed a strategic alliance with Kais Al Naamani, which originated in Kuwait and paved the way for further expansion into the Middle Eastern market. By late 2008 new partnerships were established in the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon to serve those markets with the same expertise, international experience and personal quality that REX is known for.
Today the company operates internationally from offices in Johannesburg, Kuwait City, Beirut and Dubai. Together with their team of inspired professionals, REX approaches every challenge with an old school professional ethic that has made them valued partners in a variety of businesses in South Africa, North America, Europe as well as in the Middle East.
REX offers sophisticated creativity and skillful design application in a broad range of media. The work is characterized by a multi-disciplinary, non-formulaic approach – all in the pursuit of delivering work of distinction.
